IBM Best Demo Paper Award
The paper and demo “Agent-Based Modelling and Simulation of Airport Terminal Operations Under COVID-19-Related Restrictions” by Gregory Sanders, Sahand Mohammadi Ziabari, Adin Mekić, and Alexei Sharpanskykh was awarded IBM Best demo paper award at 19th International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-agent Systems. The award is given by IBM with 2.000€ and a diploma. An extended version of the paper is invited to be published in the Advances in Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence journal.
This paper is based on the Master thesis of Gregory Sanders, who graduated in April 2021. In this paper, the effects of the existing and other possible COVID-19-related restrictions on passenger safety and airport’s capacity and efficiency were investigated. Also, different concepts of airport operation under COVID-19 restrictions were evaluated using a dedicated agent-based simulation tool AATOM developed at ATO, calibrated using real data, which was presented at the conference.
Many congratulations to Gregory and the ATO team!
