Study Buddy project

Study Buddy project

Many students encounter obstacles in their studying due to a disability or other special needs. Horizon offers help in different ways. One way is to give students the opportunity to discuss their challenges with peers, which can help in dealing with them. For students that benefit from discussing their problems with peers, a Study Buddy might be the answer.

A Buddy can help with study skills or offer a moment of social interaction, for example by grabbing a cup of coffee together or going for a walk. It is meant as low-key one-on-one support. This contact usually is for approximately one hour per week for one or two quarters, but it definitely also depends on the needs and availability on both sides.

Become a Study Buddy

Help a fellow student for one hour a week!

As a Study Buddy you help a fellow student, possibly but not necessarily with a (physical) disability, who could use some help. You meet up for approximately 1 hour per week. You can help with study skills such as planning, discuss how to tackle a certain course or just grab a cup of coffee together or going for a walk. You determine the purpose and the duration of your teamwork with the student and one of the coordinators of the project.

Who can be a Study Buddy?

  • You are a TU Delft senior student and you would like an extra challenge during your studies.
  • You are a good listener and like to help out a fellow student.
  • You are available for 1 hour per week during at least two quarters.

What we offer

  • (Online) training on communication- and coaching skills
  • The experience of coaching and helping a fellow student.
  • A certificate of participation, after you completed your time as a buddy
