Webdata

How does it work?

If you use weblogin or webdata, your computer must meet the connection requirements of the ICT Department. It is of the utmost importance that the computers on the TU network are optimally secured.

Connection requirements ICT Department:

  • An unsafe computer can be disconnected from the network.
  • Computer has an up-to-date operating system (OS). Make sure that your OS updates are installed regularly. This prevents disconnection from the network.
  • Computer may only have 1 MAC address.
  • Computer has a working firewall.
  • Computer has an up-to-date virus scanner.
  • Computer has a legal license for all the software installed on it.

Virtual Private Network (VPN)

What does it mean?

A VPN is a private, closed data network that makes use of an underlying public network, such as the Internet. VPN gives you secure access to protected ICT facilities from anywhere in the world.

VPN is intended to allow home workers (who already have an internet connection, but do not have a TU IP address for this purpose) to access certain services that are normally only available from a TU Delft location.

The VPN connection uses a secure and encrypted connection between the current workstation of the user and the ICT infrastructure of the TU Delft.

It provides access to many resources of the TU Delft for example: online access to the university library, connection to license servers or internal websites and security Open Wi-Fi (e.g. in the train or at the airport).

How does it work?

Use your NetID to connect with the VPN. The manual describes how to connect to the VPN client software.
