Check if you can still get care allowance and/or rent benefit. Don’t leave any money lying around and apply by 1 September at the latest.

Many students never check whether they are entitled to benefits such as care allowance or housing benefit. For example, because they think they are not entitled to a grant. This is a shame, because students are missing out on dozens of euros a month. You might be one of them.

Applications for health care and/or housing benefit can be made retrospectively. This means that you can apply for care and/or rent allowance for the previous year up to and including 1 September.

So, before you go on your summer holiday, make a test calculation at toeslagen.nl/kaniktoeslagkrijgen and apply for your benefit(s) by 1 September at the latest.
