TU Delft’s Vision on Shaping Future-Proof Engineers

In today’s rapidly evolving world, it is crucial for us to define forward-looking strategies that empower students, staff, and faculty to thrive in a dynamic environment. At TU Delft, our new Vision on Education aims to shape future-proof engineers—graduates who are both technically skilled and prepared to address complex societal challenges. Our vision revolves around three core elements: to equip students with the latest technical knowledge and skills, to build a thriving academic learning community, and promote a transformative educational journey geared towards personal development.

We teach our students to be proactive learners, take responsibility, and develop resilience. Competencies that will help them navigate their educational journey and future careers. Our goal is to educate engineers who not only understand the challenges they encounter but also develop the ability to intervene responsibly and create positive change.

TU Delft is proud of its diverse, global community of students and staff, who work together to create an inclusive educational environment. This community forms the backbone of our educational experience, where collaboration, creativity, and mutual support are highly valued.

We invite you to read and explore the vision, and we encourage all members of the TU Delft community to engage with the ideas behind it. Together, we can shape the future of engineering education.

As Hans Hellendoorn, Interim Vice Rector Magnificus of Education at TU Delft, emphasises:

Commitment from educators and students and a strong relationship between central and faculty policy and implementation are prerequisites for a successful implementation of this new vision on education.

The Works Council and Student Council note that the Vision on Education document is not an end (product), but the start of a process to further realize this vision within the university and our education.
