TU Delft Educator of the Year 2024: Miriam Blaauboer
Every year, the study associations, together with the Directors of Education of each faculty, nominate their Faculty Educator of the Year to become the TU Delft Educator of the Year. The TU Delft Educator of the Year is also the TU Delft nominee for the national election of the ISO Docent van het Jaar.
Characteristics of the Educator of the Year is the tremendous dedication to education, the innovativeness in teaching, as well as commitment and connection to students.
On 7 November 2024 at the TU Delft Education Day - Award Ceremony, the Faculty Educators of the Year 2024 were put in the spotlight and the TU Delft Educator of the Year 2024 was announced.
This year the title “TU Delft Educator of the Year 2024” goes to Miriam Blaauboer!
Miriam Blaauboer, from the faculty of Applied Sciences, according to her colleagues and her students, stands out for her infectious enthusiasm and creating a supportive learning environment.
Miriam is known for her super clear explanations, empathy for students and genuine kindness. Her passion and deep knowledge inspire students to dive into complex subjects, making quantum concepts feel both accessible and interesting. She is always open to questions and discussions, dedicating her full attention to the students, often continuing conversations outside of class. Over the past three years, Miriam has been the driving force behind the new master’s program in Quantum Information Science & Technology, successfully leading the team to shape this unique joint degree program of EEMCS and AS in Delft, the faculty of W&N in Leiden and the research institute QuTech.
