News Open menu 01 February 2024 Marta Ribeiro attends the AIAA Scitech Forum 2024 in Orlando At the beginning of January, I (Marta Ribeiro) had the pleasure of participating in the AIAA SciTech Forum 2024 in Orlando, where I presented two papers produced at our section. One paper covered the prediction of non-routine maintenance tasks, showcasing a model developed by a PhD candidate from our section, Haonan Li. The second highlighted a potential framework for the certification of reinforcement learning applications in air transportation. Read more 30 January 2024 Malte von der Burg and Marta Ribeiro attend SESAR Innovation Days 2023 At the end of November, we (Malte von der Burg and Marta Ribeiro) had a great experience of participating in SESAR Innovation Days 2023 in Seville. This conference is the main dissemination activity for SESAR Joint Undertaking’s results. Additionally, the conference aims for a balance between academia and industry, with exploratory research from both sides being shown. Read more 24 September 2023 Ingeborg de Pater attends ESREL conference & wins Professor Stein Haugen Paper award The first week of September, I attended the ESREL conference (European Conference on Safety and Reliability). The conference was held in Southampton this year, where the weather was unexpectedly warm and nice. Southampton is an old harbour city in the south of the United Kingdom. LNMB, an abbreviation for the very complicated Dutch name “Landelijk Network Mathematische Besliskunde”, is a network that organizes courses for Dutch master and PhD students on Operations Research (OR) and Optimization. As assistant professor at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, he actively seeks and uses student feedback to continually improve courses and engage students. Cleaner aviation: the logistical puzzle Improving the sustainability of aviation is not only a technological challenge, but also a logistical one. For example, using cleaner fuels for aviation calls for sufficient facilities at airfields. Sustainable aviation starts on the ground In the newly launched Airport Technology Lab, TU Delft researchers are testing their ideas, from better weather forecasting models to faster baggage handling.
