Part 1: Orientation
We are glad to help you to broaden your horizon and go abroad for an exchange period abroad. This is the first part of your exchange. There are three steps in this part:
-
The most up-to-date information on the exchange possibilities and the application process will be posted on Brightspace. Here you can fill in the application form and submit all the necessary documents. The international office ME also uses Brightspace for communication to their students. Go to the Brightspace Catalog, search for ‘International Office ME’ and enroll for the course.
-
To go on an exchange you must
-
Have a minimum of 60 ECTS from your first year before the application deadline of 1 December 2023. Please note that the best student will get the best placement which means that students with a high GPA and nominal study duration will get the most wanted places.
-
have to be a good and motivated student with a competitive GPA.
-
have worked out a financial plan in which you have given thought to the consequences of studying abroad. The flight, housing and living costs can be expensive, especially for non-EU placements. Inform the International Office about your financial plan.
Note that
-
An exchange period lasts for 5 or 10 months;
-
You have to be enrolled and pay the tuition fee in ‘Studielink’ as a fulltime student at TU Delft throughout your exchange period.
-
Your chosen study programme abroad needs to be approved by the board of examiners of ME and is part of your curriculum at the TU Delft.
-
-
Find the partner universities of ME in the list below and you can read the student testimonials attached to the universities for previous student experiences. For a complete overview of the testimonials visit partneruniversities.tudelft.nl. In these student testimonials you can find information regarding the preparations, study programme, costs, accommodations and culture per university.
Be aware that the partner universities database of the TU Delft is not the guiding list, but just an indication of placements which changes regularly. Each year the updated list of available places abroad is published on our International Office ME Brightspace page. You can select your top 5 of placements from this list only.
Visit the website of the host universities to find out their requirements (e.g. language, subjects and deadlines)
-
Choose your most preferred host universities and find subjects in their study guide. Check the course language and their availability to exchange students.
Make a study programme, containing an overview of all the courses you want to follow at your preferred host university. The core courses of your study programme have to be ME-related courses, although it can be possible to take a few non-engineering courses at most universities. At non-English-speaking universities, you can choose English-taught Master courses for your minor too. The partners agreements are with similar faculties like ME abroad. This means it is only possible to attain courses conform the faculty of the agreement, unless stated otherwise by the partner university.
