The motivation...
...for me to participate in the Dutch Student Championship long distance running (NSK) is to enjoy running with other students and to be challenged by them. When you run with other people, I have found that you can run just a bit faster, than when running on your own. At a race, it's nice to be able to compare yourself to others who are also putting in full effort.
I don't prepare...
...specifically for this race. Actually, I just enjoy exercising and being active. I try to do that about five times a week. At least twice a week I do some more intensive running training at D.S.A.V Dodeka. I also go running or road biking myself about three times. I also enjoy a spontaneous ride on the road bike with friends or a game of football.
Running gives me...
....relaxation and challenge. On one hand, it's nice to run outside together with others. On the other hand, it is very challenging to push the limits of your fatigue, with the reward being the well-known 'runner's high'. Afterwards, it is fun to notice that you are getting faster and so actually learn something new. I don't need to run a record at the NSK Weg. If I have put in maximum effort, I am satisfied with any result.
