Electives
Orientation on your thesis theme and (track) electives starts in the very first year of your MSc programme. You will explore the topics or types of research that interest you in order to choose your (track) electives. General information sessions about graduation and electives are scheduled in April/May. Please keep an eye on Brightspace.
Obligatory

Students choose 25 EC of electives, including a minimum of 10 EC that are track related (track electives).
For the track electives, see the list of recommended track electives. Sample sets of electives can be found below, under elective packages. You can enter your choices via My Study Planning. The relevant track coordinator checks the track electives.

After approval by the track coordinator your application will be sent to the Board of Examiners for approval. Please note that your the application process may take 40 working days. The approved form is then sent to the student administration for processing in OSIRIS.
TPM offers many electives you can choose from, but there are also many opportunities outside our faculty. Some faculties require enrollment in courses; check the digital study guide in time. For more information see: registration for courses.

For MOT students who started the programme in 2023 or later:
MOT students choose 20 EC of elective courses (as a suggestion, elective packages of 15 + 5 EC are offered. See below).For MOT students who started the programme in 2022 or earlier:
MOT students choose an elective package of 15 EC and 10 EC of elective courses or instead 25 EC of elective course.You can select the electives via My Study Planning. For February-starters it is not possible to schedule elective packages. These students have to choose free electives, which also have to be approved of by the Board of Examiners.

- no Bachelor courses
- no language courses
- no skill courses
- no significant overlap (in terms of content with any other unit already included in your study programme)
NOTE: In case your already approved set of courses changes you'll have to fill out a new application in My Study Planning and have it approved again!
