Gender Equality Plan
TU Delft strives to be a safe, diverse and inclusive learning and working environment for all staff and students. Realising this ambition requires courage and the participation of everyone within the TU Delft community. It starts with having an open dialogue within the TU Delft community about equality, diversity and inclusion in respect of the visible and non-visible differences among all staff and students. To this end, TU Delft has different dedicated resources that contribute to a safe, diverse and inclusive environment.

In this policy framework a set of principles and long-term goals are set out that form the basis of TU Delfts’ Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) policy. Moreover this document aims to give overall direction to D&I planning and development and explains the positioning of the D&I office within TU Delft.
Inclusive Language
It is important that we make sure that everyone feels welcome and accepted at TU Delft. By using inclusive language and imagery, we prevent people from being excluded. TU Delft is an international organisation, where we generally communicate in Dutch and in English – depending on the colleagues, the group and the context in which we communicate and work. This guideline aims to offer examples and tips for using more inclusive words, phrases or sentences. There is also a Dutch version available. We will focus primarily on written language and include spoken language whenever possible.
Since this is a living document, we look forward to receiving suggestions or improvements so that our language becomes increasingly more inclusive. Words matter.
