International Astronautical Congress in Paris
Eoghan attended the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2022 in Paris to present his master thesis there as a part of the technical sessions. IAC is the biggest space focused conference of the year, with all the major space agencies and companies in attendance, from NASA, ESA and JAXA, to Airbus, Ariane Group and Boeing. At this years IAC new images from the James Webb Space Telescope were revealed, peering further back into the history of our universe, and Ariane Group announced a new proposal for a crewed spacecraft, which would be Europe’s first!
His own research focused on in-orbit refuelling of satellites with Hydrogen Peroxide and proposes a new refuelling architecture, where the green propellant of Hydrogen Peroxide could be produced on the Moon or Mars and supplied to customers using a reusable refuelling spacecraft. Thanks to the FAST fund he was able to attend for the full duration of this unique International Astronautical Congress.
"Getting to present at such a conference was a brilliant pinnacle to my masters thesis and my overall time at TU Delft. I got into contact with lots of companies in the quickly growing space industry and many were interested in my work. I met many friends who work in the space industry and also formed many new contacts during the networking events."
