CHAKO
Sophie, Emma and Jamil are three students of the International Entrepreneurship and Development minor who raised money to tackle the local waste and health problems on Zanzibar. Using the crowdfunding platform of the Delft University Fund, they held a crowdfunding campaign where they raised almost 3000 euros from donators who wanted to support their project. After a month of campaigning and building the bike, they managed to make a prototype bike plastic schredder which is now operational on the island.
The bike plastic schredder, which they designed themselves, shreds plastic waste into useful material for CHAKO to use for the production of their products. This is the perfect bridge between the vitality of the employees, up-cycling plastic waste, all while being an innovative and sustainable alternative to existing methods.
