What we do
In a student’s life, lots of things happen. This means that you may visit an academic counsellor with a very diverse array of questions. Sometimes we can offer advice or support, but sometimes we will have to refer you. This page gives an indication of the subjects that we can help you with and some suggestions for other sources to find information.
Please take note that this list is only an overview of frequent subjects.
-
We know a lot (but not everything) about the programmes; more about the BSc than MSc programmes. If you have questions about the content of a course, please check Brightspace, the <link typo3 studiegids.tudelft.nl>study guide or contact the professor. If you have questions about the content of an MSc programme, please take a look at the information activities or contact the MSc or track coordinator or study association.
-
We can help you in planning your studies, for example by drawing up realistic goals and guiding you in making choices.
-
If you find it hard to motivate yourself or to study effectively, you can contact us for guidance and tips.
-
If you have study delay, or you expect to be delayed, you can contact us with your questions. We can, for example, give you tips on how to minimize the delay and take a second look at the choices you are making.
-
If there is something going on that is affecting your studies, or you think might have an effect on your studies at a later stage, please contact us. Report circumstances as soon as possible (preferably within 3 months), even if at this moment you do not feel the need for help. This can help us to advise and support you at a later moment.
Examples of circumstances are: illness, pregnancy, an accident, psychological problems, an unpleasant home situation or an experience that impressed you a lot. Circumstances causing a friend, family member or loved one trouble can also have an effect on you. -
Contact us if you are in bad mental or physical health, or have a disorder, and need counselling during your studies or more information about special services.
-
First year students (BSc) need to score sufficient credits (45 out of 60). If they have any questions about this, they can contact us.
-
If the curriculum changes and this makes you insecure, please contact us. Have you lost overview of your study progress? We can take a look at your results with you.
-
Maybe you find that your study programme does not offer you as much challenge as you are looking for, and you would like to do something extra to keep you motivated. We can look at options (within the university) with you.
-
We do not give many workshops for groups of students, but can always guide you in finding a fitting one from Career and Counselling Services (TU wide).
Please take note that this list is only an overview of frequent subjects. If you are in doubt about where to go to, e-mail us or make use of an open hour.
