Profile
Dr Rebecca Anne Price is an Assistant Professor of Transition Design at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. Based in the Department of Design, Organisation and Strategy, Dr Price is on a mission to train the best professional designers possible, who can confront systemic and complex problems of this time. To do that, Dr Price develops and implements, via educational and action research, new pedagogical resources that cultivate resilience and cognitive flexibility. Her research and leadership challenges higher education to fulfil its ‘higher’ promise to society through a commitment to world class education that cares for people and community.
In the area of education, Dr Price coordinates in the Strategic Product Design (SPD) Master program. In response to her blend of expertise and passionate teaching method, she has won a number of awards, including Most Inspiring Teacher in the Faculty in 2019 and Most Inspiring Teacher in Strategic Product Design Master program in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023. These awards are voted for by her students, demonstrating the high regard she is held in.
Educated and practiced as an industrial designer, Dr Price was quickly drawn to the strategic potential of design as source of resilience, and so pursued a PhD in design-led innovation at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. Across the last 10 years, Dr Price has worked with numerous public and private organisations to support the application of design upon complex innovation challenges related to climate resilient cities, public health, seamless mobility and energy transitions.
