Exhibition: The Joy Of City Observation

28 May 2024 09:00 till 07 June 2024 17:00 - Location: Corridor 01 Oost 400 - By: Communicatie BK | Add to my calendar

From 28 May to 7 June, the exhibition 'The Joy of City Observation' will be on display.

In the BK4GR4 Fundamentals course 4, twenty-eight teachers take all 380 second-year BSc students on a week-long excursion to a European city: this year to Hamburg, Berlin, Copenhagen, Lyon, Randstad, Paris, Prague. In this course, the city is understood as a part of a manmade world over time and, in connection to geographical conditions. Visiting a city shows how societies and identities are shaped by the past and raise the awareness of continuity and connectedness.

The excursion is about looking, walking, sketching, asking questions and more; the experience of the city, the buildings, public spaces and parks are at the centre, and then, being able to interpret this in terms of design by delving into history, analysing drawings and depicting the experience of the city.

The exhibition in the corridor shows a selection of student work, with the intention of portraying the obvious usefulness and especially the pleasure of studying a city live.
