If you decide to join the Master programme of Aerospace Engineering, you will also have to make a choice for a certain track. Each track has a number of mandatory courses that provide a broad view of a field of expertise.
In the first weeks of the academic year, you also have to choose a profile within your track. Each profile has its own mandatory profile courses, which allow you to focus on a particular subfield.
More information about these courses can be found in the study guide.
-
In the programme there is room to compose your own study programme with courses that complement the core courses. This is possible with the electives. Every student chooses several technical electives (subjects with a technical focus), and a number of subjects aimed at personal and professional development. Some of these electives are taken from a list of recommended profile electives, and other can be chosen from the larger set of available courses. These can be electives from Aerospace Engineering, but also from other academic fields.
-
In your second year, you can choose if you want to do an internship at a company or if you want to join the Joint Interdisciplinary Project (JIP). JIP is an exceptional opportunity to incorporate real interdisciplinary teamwork into your Master. You will work together with passionate fellow students from different programmes, and companies in technical innovation ‘in the niche’ on a business case to create innovative impact.
-
If you choose to do an internship, you get the chance to acquire professional skills at a Dutch or international company or institute. The duration of the internship is approximately three months. The internship can be connected to the thesis, by following up on the same project.
-
If you choose to do a Technology Venture Development, you will get the chance to develop a business idea for a technology-based startup in 10 weeks. You will work in an interdisciplinary team, learn to speak the language of technology entrepreneurship and study the stories of founders and startups.
-
During the thesis you work on a research project or design assignment on a subject of your choice, within a company or academia. It is possible to continue on your internship project during your thesis.
