Head of Core Technologies
Dr Apmann obtained a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hannover in 2004. He then started working in the Tooling department at Airbus Germany, where he focussed on composites and automation. In 2009 he moved to Premium Aerotec where he continued working on technology development in this area. Since 2013 Dr Apmann is also project leader for FML development for serial program applications.
Presentation
Cost effective and automated manufacturing of FML-parts
As a new material, FML, made by aluminum foils and glass-fiber prepreg, is an alternative to common materials not only for aircraft fuselages. It has really good advantages compared to the status of monolithic aluminum or metal material and also composite structures. One basic step to improve FML for cost effective production is the automation of the manufacturing process chain for FML-parts. The presentation will look onto an automated manufacturing process chain, the cost drivers and their opportunities to get most benefits for FML-parts for high production rates.
