Comparing MSEM and conventional CFD for incompressible 2D Navier-Stokes
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has become important in designing aerospace and transport products. Its allows for predicting the key flow properties. CFD techniques were developed in the late 20th century. Mimetic schemes are relatively new in CFD, applied to various Partial Differential Equations (PDE) problems. Some comparisons between Finite Volume and Finite Element Methods exist, but little focus has been on comparing the Mimetic Spectral Element Method (MSEM) with conventional techniques. Further analysis is needed to judge the effectiveness, stability, and accuracy of MSEM against traditional methods. This report presents findings from 2D incompressible Navier-Stokes flow simulations, comparing MSEM and conventional CFD, validated against literature and analytical solutions.
