TU Delft team wins VU CTF

News - 20 June 2024 - Communication EWI

On the 18th of May 2024, six TU Delft student teams participated in the “VU CTF” hacking competition at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The TU Delft teams placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 9th, and 11th, winning the gold medal and dominating the leaderboard.

The competition involved different problems from various cybersecurity fields, including reverse engineering, binary exploitation, web security, and cryptography. The event also contained a unique category of hardware exploitation in which the contestants had to exploit security flaws in physical devices.

The TU Delft CTF Team consists of bachelor, master, and PhD students who gather weekly to learn about hacking skills and practice together. They participate in so-called Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions, where points are earned by exploiting applications, files, and protocols to find secret codes called flags. The team is always open to new members! To get in touch, you can send an email to ctf-ewi@tudelft.nl.
