Nigerian delegation visits NWO INSPiRED project
Last Thursday, a high-level delegation from Nigeria paid a special visit to the NWO INSPiRED project at the TU Delft | Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (IDE). The delegation was organised by Task Force Health Care and included representatives from the Dutch Embassy, Nigerian government, Philips Healthcare Nigeria, and Pharm Access.
The group was updated on the progress of the digital diagnostics device for Neglected Tropical Diseases being developed at IDE and 3ME. In addition to this, they received a demonstration of the Schistoscope project lead J.C. Diehl and PhD Prosper Oyibo.
Following the demonstration, a rich discussion took place to explore the potential enablers (and barriers) for the successful adoption of the Schistoscope in Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
Preceding this meeting, the Schistoscope was tested and extensively evaluated last summer in Nigeria. The results from these tests can be found in the following scientific publications:

- Performance Evaluation of the Schistoscope 5.0 for (Semi-)automated Digital Detection and Quantification of Schistosoma haematobium Eggs in Urine: A Field-based Study in Nigeria
