Before TU Delft can apply for your MVV visa and/or Residence Permit for Study, we need proof that your financial solvability meets the criteria laid down by the Dutch Ministry of Justice. You should be able to cover the first year’s tuition fees and all your first year’s living costs.
Tuition fees do not apply for exchange students.
Exchange students with a non-EU nationality do need to be able to cover the relevant period’s Living Cost.

TU Delft is obliged by law to monitor the study progress of TU Delft students with a Dutch Residence Permit for Study. You need to obtain at least 50% of the required credits for each academic year.
If you're doing a pre-master or preparatory year programme, you need to obtain ALL ECTS of the pre-master programme by 31 August.
The validity of your Residence Permit depends on your study period.
In the event of insufficient study progress TU Delft is legally required to report this to the IND. This could eventually lead to having your Residence Permit revoked and having to leave The Netherlands. For more information about MoMi, click here.
MoMi requirements do not apply for exchange students.

In addition to the MomI Study Progress requirement explained here, the IND has determined several requirements that you are obliged to meet for the entire duration of your stay in the Netherlands. As long as you do meet these requirements, your residence permit is valid for the nominal duration of your study programme and three months after. If you do not comply with these conditions, your residence permit will be revoked. TU Delft cannot change these regulations nor make an exception.
The requirements are:
- You are obliged to remain registered as a full-time degree student at TU Delft at all times (or, in case this applies to you: as an exchange student);
- You must have sufficient financial resources to cover tuition fee and living costs. The IND determines the required amounts of income for student living costs in addition to tuition fees; this is called the study norm.
- You must have sufficient health insurance.
- You must be registered with your Dutch home address in the BRP (Personal Records Database) at the municipality at all times.
- If you reside outside the Netherlands for an internship, thesis or exchange, this is allowed for a maximum of 1 year as long as your residence permit is valid. If you reside outside the Netherlands for other reasons, you have to return to the Netherlands within 6 months.
To retain your residence permit, your study progress must be sufficient. The study progress is sufficient when you earn at least half of the credits required per academic year.
