Why and How to do Open Source Hardware
We try to address the two main questions: Why and How to do Open Source Hardware.
Why is open hardware important?
- It speeds up the learning process because it allows to use and study the source code.
- It empowers users that can contribute, innovate and take the idea further.
- It also teaches people how to collaborate together and build communities.
- It delivers very concrete products and results to society, this can eventually have a profound impact on people's lives.
How to do it?
- Work on real projects, learn from experienced peers, practice it and get better at it.
- Learn the available tools which involves organizational, source control, software, fabrication methods, etc.
- Develop skills and use them to make substantial contributions.
- Learn best practices for community building which involves leadership, good communication, team building activities and more.
