INCITE
Project Description
(Innovative controls for renewable source integration into smart energy systems) is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie European Training Network (ITN-ETN) funded by the HORIZON 2020 Programme. The project brings together experts on control and power systems, from academia aiming to propose innovative control and design solutions for future electrical power networks.
The project adopts a multidisciplinary and holistic approach through four work packages covering topics of management of distributed electrical generation and demand, energy storage systems, integration of renewable energy into electrical grids, monitoring and operation of smart grids. An additional work package ensures that the proposed control strategies consider the complex interrelation among the objectives and specifications.
Networking Activities
In addition to representation in conferences, workshops and summer schools, INCITE organizes a yearly summer school where experts from academia and industry are invited. INCITE summer schools are open for external participants and provide a networking opportunity.
Additionally, members of the project are encouraged to carry out joint research and training activities with consortium members and external partners.
Decentralized Control for Renewable Energy Sources by Fast Market-based Multi-agent systems
Within the INCITE project, IEPG contributes with the individual research project (IRP) 1.2. The objective of the IRP is to develop control approaches and algorithms for market-based control of distributed energy resources, thus, leading to efficient integration of renewable energy sources into the future electrical grid.

H. Abdelghany
Hazem Abdelghany joined the IEPG group as a PhD candidate in October 2016 as part of the " INCITE" Horizon 2020 Project. He was recruited from Egypt, where he obtained his BSc. and MSc. degrees in electrical & control engineering at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), in 2012 and 2015 respectively. Between 2012 and 2015 Hazem was appointed by the electrical and control engineering department at the AASTMT as a graduate teaching assistant, then as a lecturer assistant until September 2016. In IEPG, Hazem is working on developing market-based control techniques for power systems with heterogeneous distributed energy resources.
