Computational statistics means statistical methods that are enabled by using numerical methods. Many computational challenges my appear while constructing reliable estimation- and inference procedures in both frequentist and Bayesian statistics. The number of examples is numerous, starting with well-known Monte Carlo simulation methods, Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms and finishing with modern machine learning algorithms.
