Humans of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science
Peter Vaessen
The lights needs to be kept on in the future. It is important to get students excited about power hardware too. I do that by integrating practical experience into my lectures. Like the anecdote about how a mosquito affected the testing of a 20m long 800kV HVDC wall bushing.
Peter Vaessen has recently been appointed as part-time professor in the DC systems, Energy conversion & Storage group. He divides his time between DNVGL and TU Delft (80/20). He teaches courses in High Voltage technology and has ample experience in high voltage testing in practice throughout his career, for example lighting impulse and DC tests on key equipment like converter transformers.
