New policy on Open Acces publishing
Starting from February 1, TU Delft implemented its new policy and guidelines on Open Access publishing. The current policy that dates from 2016 no longer reflects the current practice as much has changed in the open access landscape. The new policy and guidelines bring together all of TU Delft’s Open Access components.
Act local, think global
The idea behind open access is the unlimited sharing and reuse of publications. This is done by making the research results accessible free of charge. As a researcher you have benefits when publishing in open access: more visibility for your publication, reuse of your work, wider distribution to peers and a higher chance of citation. The TU Delft Open Access policy stipulates that you as an author must deposit an open access version of your article in the TU Delft Repository.
The main principles of the new ‘TU Delft Policy and Guidelines of Open Access Publishing’ concern:
- Compliance with funder requirements, including PlanS, NWO, and the European Union.
- A strong preference for the CC-BY license, enabling material reuse, distribution, adaptation, and building upon with proper attribution.
- Short Scientific work becoming an open access tool. As of February 1, 2023, all short works by TU Delft researchers not initially published open access will automatically transition to open access status six months after publication via the TU Delft Repository.
98% of all peer-reviewed articles were published open access in 2022 at TU Delft Library.
