Jessica Hartcher-O'Brien is Assistant professor at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering.

Academic Background

Hartcher-O’Brien is a Delft Technology Fellowship assistant professor in Haptics in the Department of Industrial Design Engineering at TUD. She received her PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Oxford in 2012, supervised by Prof. Spence where she identified underlying processing mechanisms of multisensory integration for dynamic events. She spent 23 months as a visiting student at the Max Planck Institute for biological cybernetics, Tuebingen, Germany in the Perception and Action group with Dr. Ernst.  In 2013 she was awarded a Fyssen Foundation fellowship for independent post-doctoral research at the Ecole Normale Superieure, Paris France in Dr. Auvray's group. As a post-doctoral researcher, she worked at ISIR, Universite Pierre et Marie Curie under the supervision of Prof. Hayward on two EU funded projects: Wearhap and ERC PATCH (2015-2016). She is a scientific advisor to the ERC spin-off company Transmodality Inc. focusing on haptic augmented reality.
