FAQ: Your profile page on the TU Delft Research portal

If you haven’t already added your research profile, research interests or academic background, your profile page will show your ‘fingerprint’ (a cluster of research related concepts) and a network graph. Your network map uses the affiliation details of your co-authors. It is also possible to disable both fingerprint and the network map. Please see the instruction page for details

There are many (good) reasons to have a profile page on the TU Delft research portal, but ultimately the choice is yours. If you decide not to set up a profile page on the TU Delft research portal, it would still be good practice to add a link to your preferred profile page.  Having a TU Delft profile page will help those interested in your research to easily find you, verify your affiliation with the university and get an overview of your current research interests and publications.

As a TU Delft researcher, you can manage you profile by logging on to your account: https://pure.tudelft.nl/admin. This will take you to your personal page in the Research Information System (Pure). Use your TU Delft credentials to log in.

Should you experience any difficulties logging in, please report this to library@tudelft.nl.

Once logged in, you can set up, configure and maintain your profile page. You can manage your overview of publications, activities and awards and decide which content you would like to highlight or hide. To set up your profile page, log on to the system and select ‘Edit portal profile’.

You may already have a profile page set up on a personal website or by using a platform such as ORCID, ResearchGate, Mendeley or Google Scholar. If you prefer to maintain your own webpage, or you have set up a profile page on another platform, it would still be good practice to add a link to your preferred profile page in your TU Delft research profile.

Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to import your complete profile from another Pure instance. So even if you already had a Pure profile page set up at another university, it is not possible to simply copy that profile to the TU Delft research portal. The Pure system allows you to create an export of your publications, but not of the other content. However, If you have an ORCID profile set up, you can synchronize your publications between your TU Delft profile and ORCID. Please see the instruction for the ORCID synchronizaton on the Library website for details.

A representable, professional photo, a brief a clear description of your research profile, your academic background, a summary of your research interests (in keywords) and of course, your publications. In addition, you can add activities such as lectures, memberships, peer-review activities, press coverage, awards, prizes etc. Currently you can’t add dataset descriptions; these are imported by the Library from DataCite.

You may find that some publications have already been added to your profile. This is because the Library continuously imports, adds and validates new content from Scopus, making it easier for TU Delft researchers to maintain their profile’s content and be assured of the quality of the bibliographical data. 

Although Scopus covers a vast number of peer-reviewed international journals, not all your publications will be included. For the missing publications the Library relies on you to make sure they are added to your profile.

Yes, but in that case you should make sure to remove your TU Delft affiliation from those records. Whenever you create a new publication record, the system will add you as an author including your TU Delft affiliation. The affiliation should be replaced by the correct external affiliation to avoid the publication being incorrectly counted as TU Delft output.

Please bear in mind that your profile page is intended to showcase your research at the TU Delft. If your aim is to set up a comprehensive personal website or online CV, you can set this up yourself or use one of the existing platforms (see: What if I already have a profile page?) and simply include a link to the website on your TU Delft profile page. This way you ensure that your profile remains online even if your career path takes you elsewhere.

If content is missing, you can add it, and vice versa, hide content that you do not want to be publicly available. To hide content from being displayed on the research portal, you change the visibility status to ‘backend’.

If you decide you want to delete content, you can do so only if the record has not already been validated by the Library. To have validated content removed, you’ll have to send an e-mail to library@tudelft.nl. 

One year after you have left the university, your personal data will be purged from the system. In concurrence with the GDPR. At any time, you can request the Library to remove your personal data and take your profile offline.

Not completely: What will remain is a record of your name (first name, last name), the affiliation with your research group. This data can’t be removed as it is used to link your publications to your research group and faculty. Your other output (records of software, datasets, conference papers) will also remain in the system, but you can send a request for the removal of your profile information, activities and prizes.
