Lecture by Herman van der Bent, PhD Candidate, Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment
Hosted by the Urban Energy Institute
Date: Wednesday 10 March
Time: 4-5pm CET
Moderator: Henk Visscher
Housing associations in the Netherlands own 2.4 million homes, representing one third of the total Dutch housing stock. This lecture will focus on the results of Herman van der Bent's research, about the effects of renovations on the energy consumption of dwellings and the discrepancies between modelled and actual energy consumption in the Dutch social housing stock. His work aims to help housing associations to more accurately predict the effects of renovations towards a CO2 neutral built environment. In this lecture, he will cover renovations in the Dutch social housing stock between 2017 and 2020. Secondly, efforts to minimize the discrepancy between modelled and actual energy consumption by building new empirical models and the associated challenges, and thirdly, a quick glimpse at changing policies for housing associations moving towards a CO2-neutral future.
