I studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Twente and received my PhD degree at the TU Delft in 1993. My research interests shifted from polymer processing ( injection moulding, 1988-2000) and encapsulation of microelectron components (2001-2012) to Smart materials and electronic textiles (2012-now). In my current research I aim at developing textile-based sensors which can be manufactured with standard industrial equipment like programmable knitting and weaving machines. The main applications areas for which we develop these sensor textiles are sports and health care.
