And again we had a warmer year than the ones before – old news! And bad news also…. The extreme events we have seen to date are only a glimpse what’s in store for us. After all we are only halfway up the slope to the expected warming – that is: if we don’t step up with our actions to mitigate climate change. This is clearly not something we should get used to… I will address the state of the climate, the role of academia in climate action and the challenges ahead of us.
Are we doing what we must be doing?
Herman Russchenberg is the University Pro Vice Rector for Climate Action and professor Atmospheric Remote Sensing. He has initiated and is leading the TUD Climate Action Program.
