Launch event: Atlantis Magazine

27 November 2024 16:30 till 20:00 - Location: Oostserre - By: Communicatie BK | Add to my calendar

On 27 November, the launch of the new edition 'Identities - Perspectives of Privilege and Discrimination' of the Atlantis Magazine takes place.

In this issue we confront the reality that each of us experiences the world in unique and often contrasting ways. While some navigate life with privileges they rarely consider, others encounter barriers on a daily basis that many would find unimaginable. Our aim is not only to highlight these differences, but also to invite you to pause, reflect and connect with the stories we’ve curated here.

Programme

16:30 - 18:00 | Film screening: Living Labour by Renzo Sgolacchia, Hall K

Living Labour (Renzo Sgolacchia, 2023)
‘Living Labour’ is a journey through the corporate city of prefab homes erected to accommodate migrant workers along the Rotterdam-Venlo corridor in the Netherlands. Conceiving housing as the simulacrum of vacation places enables employment agencies to dissimulate their 24/7 surveillance. Polish, Spanish, Roma and other migrants live isolated in the midst of quiet forests surrounded by an impressive network of highways and gigantic logistic boxes. Sometimes, workers emancipate themselves from agencies’ yoke.

18:00 - 20:00 | Main launch & panel discussion, Oostserre
The panel will explore identity, privilege, and equity from diverse perspectives, offering a thought-provoking discussion.
