Exhibition: 100 Jaar Mythe Maison d’Artiste
17 March 2023 00:00 till 17 April 2023 00:00 - Location: Medallion, South Serre - By: Communicatie BK | Add to my calendar
From March 17 until April 17, the exhibition '100 jaar Mythe Maison d'Artiste' is to be seen at the medallion in the faculty (south serre).
The Maison d'Artiste was designed by Cor van Eesteren and Theo van Doesburg in 1923 for a De Stijl exhibition in Paris. Widely publicised but never built, the Maison d'Artiste is world-renowned as a revolutionary building design by De Stijl. Second-year students reconstructed the maison's geometry and colour composition in 2002 and engineered and built the large prototype in 2003. In 2022, emeritus professor Mick Eekhout further developed the students' work by working out the buildability in a high-tech way, building 3D printed models and describing them in a book. In 2023, the centenary of the Maison d'Artiste design will be celebrated by a travelling exhibition with seven landings in the Netherlands, with the one at the Faculty of Architecture kicking off.
The exhibition includes two 3D printed models in white and in colour and 10 posters depicting the development and appearance of the Maison d'Artiste 1923-2023.
The large prototype will stand for several months on the forecourt of the Faculty of Architecture on Julianalaan 134
