Product service systems are not new but rarely use in building projects. One of the potential benefits is a lifecycle approach with an improved environmental performance. Facades as a service have massive technological, managerial, legal and financial consequences. The presentation explains the story behind the pilot project of the East façade at the faculty of Civil Engineering.

Professor Tillmann Klein, Professor of Building Product Innovation, Department of Architectural Engineering, TU Delft
Tillmann Klein is professor Building Product Innovation at the Delft Technical University. He leads the Circular Built Environment Hub at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment and he is editor in chief of the scientific open access ´Journal of Façade Design and Engineering´. He is leads the Architectural Facades & Products research group at the TU Delft, Faculty of Architecture and from 2008 to 2016 he was director of the façade consulting office Imagine Envelope b.v. in Den Haag. From 2015 until 2017 he was guest professor for Design and Building Envelopes at the Technische Universität München.
Martijn Veerman, Circular Facades Specialist, Alkondor
Martijn Veerman finished his study in 2012 at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, faculty Built Environment. He did his graduation thesis at ‘Slimbouwen’ (with the aim ‘reset the construction process’) and the VMRG, the branche association for the façade industry in the Netherlands. The topic was how we could prevent value depreciation of buildings by changing the technical, processes and financial systems. Later He stayed at VMRG to help the industry with innovation projects (on sustainability and circularity) on different perspectives. Later in 2017 he started working for Alkondor an innovative façade contractor where he develops and implement new and future proof façade concepts. One of them is Ciskin (Circular Skin). Ciskin is a result of years of pioneering and piloting (also on the TU Delft campus).
