Design for Values in AI for Medicine and Healthcare
25 November 2022 10:00 till 17:15 - Location: De Oude Bibliotheek, Raam 180 Delft | Add to my calendar
This workshop is an effort between the Delft Digital Ethics Center and the World Health Organization. The workshop’s core topic is designing and operationalizing values in AI systems for healthcare and medicine. We intend to cover a myriad of values, including moral values (e.g., responsibility and accountability), medical values (e.g., beneficence and non-maleficence, compassion), epistemic values (e.g., explainability and trust), and social values (e.g., equal access to health services and transparency).
The main challenge is to operationalize these values such that the use of said AI systems is aligned with high standards of medical research, practice, and health care. To this end, this workshop brings together the three main disciplines involved, namely, computer and data scientists (represented by members of SoBigData++, ITU/WHO, and TUDelft), medical and healthcare organizations and practitioners (represented by WHO), and moral philosophers (represented by TUDelft).
Participants are welcome to attend the event on-site in Delft. However, since we have limited capacity for in-person attendance, we also offer the possibility to participate online. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.
