[PDE & Applications seminar] Anastasiia Hraivoronska: Finite-volume schemes for aggregation-diffusion equations with gradient structure

In this talk, we will discuss numerical schemes for aggregation-diffusion equations. I will introduce the so-called Scharfetter-Gummel scheme and discuss its structure-preserving properties, such as energy dissipation along solutions similar to the continuous equation. I will give new insights into the scheme by proposing a gradient structure. The structure will allow us to prove the convergence of the scheme to the aggregation-diffusion equation and analyze the vanishing diffusion regime.
