Introduction
Gerdien de Vries is an associate professor in Climate Psychology at the TPM Faculty. She has a background in social psychology and studies human behaviour and decision-making in the climate and energy domain.
She integrates psychological theories and research methods with other scientific disciplines. Gerdien aims to reveal general cognitive and behavioural patterns with mainly quantitative research methods. Furthermore, she assesses how applying behavioural insights into policy and technology influences these patterns. In this presentation, Gerdien elaborates on psychology's current and future role in wind energy research. She explains that behavioural research is more than assessing social acceptance and NIMBY-ism (Not In My Back Yard). She will give examples of how multidisciplinary research can improve wind energy research, policies and technology.
