A numerical model to study the electromagnetic behaviour of power transformers subject to Geomagnetically Induced Currents has been developed in this thesis, that combines the accuracy of Finite Element Modelling and the speed of Magnetic Element Modelling using COMSOL and MATLAB Simulink, respectively. The eddy current losses in the windings due to GICs have also been investigated in this thesis.
