MSc - thesis of John Karountzos
This thesis aims to research the techno-economic potential of a system that is able to produce methanol at industrial scale via a Power-to-X (PtX) scheme. The proposed system consists mainly of PV panels, an alkaline H2O electrolyzer and a PEM CO2 electrolyzer. Both electrolyzers can operate at variable energy efficiencies, following the intermittent power supply from the PVs, due to the implemented deterministic control logic.
