Coffee & the Global Goals
On Saturday 25 September 2021 Delft officially became a Global Goals Municipality, exactly 6 years after the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Global Goals) came into force. Alderman Brandligt gave the go-ahead by hoisting a Global Goals flag. That is why all kinds of activities around Global Goals and sustainability are organized in the TU Delft Botanic Garden and De Papaver in the coming months. In October and November, various activities for adults and children are organized around Coffee & the Global Goals. Keep an eye on the websites tudelft.nl/botanischetuin and delft4globalgoals.nl.
Come for a coffee in the Botanic Garden
On Friday 15 October, from 10-12 am, visitors to the TU Delft Botanic Garden are offered a free cup of coffee in the education room of the garden where the exhibition 'Coffee and the Global Goals' can be viewed until 30 November. Admission is free for Delft pass holders, museum annual card holders, Friends of the Garden, TU staff and students. For other visitors admission is €6 for adults, €3 for children 5-14 years old and people over 65.
Coffee & the Global Goals - exhibition
The exhibition Coffee & the Global Goals can be visited in the education room of the Botanical Garden until 31 November. It not only focuses on the coffee plants, which you can view directly in the greenhouses, but also on the entire coffee chain: from the coffee farmer, cooperatives, transporters, wholesalers, roasters to the points of sale. And special attention is given to how Fair Trade organizations help farmers to get a fairer price for their coffee.
Coffee & the Global Goals afternoons
The last two Sundays of October you can come and see the exhibition in the garden, get more information, walk a special coffee route/quest, make a coffee soap and taste coffee from different countries.
The coffee chain – lecture
On Thursday 18 November we had planned a lecture about the coffee chain based on the Coffee Barometer. This will not take place in November, but will be postponed till spring 2022. Please check our agenda for the new date.
Painting with coffee - workshops
During these 1.5-hour workshops, Gonny Stuut teaches how to paint with coffee. The workshops take place on Saturday 13 and 20 November from 13:00-14:30 and 15:00-16:30. Participants pay regular entrance fees + 5 euro for the workshop. Please register via reservationbtd@tudelft.nl.
