The field of visualization leverages this ability by designing methodologies and techniques to transform data into visual components and interactions. It allows domain experts to have deeper insights into their data and spot patterns or make hypotheses that otherwise would have been difficult to derive.
Visualization may impact practically any field, such as finances, urban related issues, sports, and medical data. The research scope is also vast, varying from: applying visualization to solve specific domain problems; investigating new visualization forms; developing computational techniques to accelerate processing, and visually explore and analyse large and high-dimensional datasets; and developing machine-learning approaches for visual data analysis.
