EPA students visit the biggest refinery of Europe
In May 2019 a group of 30 students and 3 staff members of Engineering and Policy Analysis have paid a visit to the biggest refinery of Europe, Shell Pernis.
The students arrived at the visitor center of Shell Pernis. They were invited to a presentation about Shell Pernis by Imtiaas Ramdjanbeg, External Relations Adviser, and a presentation by Jean-Pierre Verbraak, Environmental Teamlead Shell Pernis about Health, Safety and Environmental risks (HSE) risks.
After the presentations, the students participated in an interactive program. They also visited the refinery by bus, and found out about HSE mitigation measures, collecting waste and residual heat.
Objective was to understand how Shell manages it’s technical risks (Health, Safety and Environmental risks) as well as some of the solutions Shell is working on to reduce CO2 emissions.
