Job opportunities
Environmental engineers will be working in a wide variety of jobs. They will find jobs in both the public and the private domain as consultant or for authorities. Moreover, they can work at institutions (Deltares, TNO, KWR), universities or higher education, including IHE Delft Institute for Water Education.
Water Resources Engineering
Water resource engineers work as consultants or technology experts in all sectors that plan, manage, operate or permit and supervise water resources infrastructure. This varies from designing irrigation networks, study the water quantity and flow in river systems and preventing local urban flooding, to the design of sewer networks, drinking water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants or manage water use in an industry. Some examples of future employers are engineering and consultancy firms, technology providers, water supply companies or national and local (water) authorities.
Resource and Waste Engineering
Resource and waste engineers generally work in sectors that plan, manage, operate or permit and supervise resource and waste flows, or that plan soil remediation measures. These sectors can be in waste recycling industry, construction, waste management, energy and infrastructure industries as well as in consultancy or for national and local authorities.
Atmospheric Environment Engineering
Atmospheric environment engineers will be able to improve the urban liveability by developing engineering solutions to mitigate air pollution, improve local urban climate and indoor air quality, or to prevent urban noise pollution. They work in all sectors that work with urban development planning or noise management.
