Innovation & Impact

The Climate Action Flagships are composed of researchers from diverse backgrounds. This allows climate themes to be examined from different angles. In doing so, we actively collaborate with governments, companies, societal organisations and knowledge institutions to ensure that our research includes the perspectives and needs of the future users of the knowledge and innovations we develop.

Innovations developed by Climate Action Programme researchers are further investigated, tested and demonstrated in field labs such as The Green Village. The TU Delft Campus is also serving as a testing ground for climate-related innovations, all the while working to ensure sustainable university operations. For the next steps towards large-scale application, partnerships are being established and funding is being sought.

Together with partners, we work on societal challenges. Students, researchers and other relevant parties are linked through ‘Learning Communities’ to jointly find solutions to societal problems. Also new educational programmes and training courses for professionals are being developed, based upon the needs of societal organisations and industry.

We conduct research at local, regional, national and global scale. For this purpose, we collaborate with other TU Delft initiatives such as the Climate Safety & Security Center in The Hague and Delft Global Initiative, as well as with Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS); Resilient Delta Initiative and LDE Centre for Sustainability.

Sharing knowledge with climate leaders worldwide is paramount. For the many researchers and stakeholders involved, a Climate Festival is organised annually to deepen contacts and generate impact.
