In the sixth Dutch spoken science podcast Snoek op Zolder (‘pike in the attic’) of the Dutch AI Coalition (NL AIC) and the National Innovation Centre for AI (ICAI), hosts Hennie Huijgens and Sietse van Gorkum talk to Mathijs de Weerdt, section leader of the Algorithmics Group at TU Delft. This episode’s focus is on the energy and industrial sector in the Netherlands. Congratulations to IDE researchers Niya Stoimenova and Rebecca Price, whose publication on AI and design is included in the latest volume of Design Issues! Niya and Rebecca’s work is titled Exploring the Nuances of Designing (with/for) Artificial Intelligence. In their work, the authors promote a holistic perspective on what it means to design with and for AI, discussing the nuances of design methodologies and how they might respond to AI as it evolves over time.

The region Zuid-Holland will be setting up the ‘AI hub Zuid-Holland’. This network organisation will be realising a single point of contact for business and knowledge institutes in South Holland who want to work with Artificial Intelligence (AI).

With the start of the new academic year the TU Delft has considerably extended the number of educational programmes on AI, data and digitalisation. The Department of Cognitive Robotics will launch its new MSc Robotics programme next week. At Computer Science the new track Artificial Intelligence Technology will start. For the new academic year the university has also set up a dedicated elective which provides a backbone for existing electives on (applied) AI.

TU Delft announced it is recruiting 16 talented researchers to become a member of a thriving Artificial Intelligence (AI) community that fosters cross-fertilisation between talents with different expertise and disciplines. The positions are aimed at both AI experts as well as those who wish to apply AI in their Science, Technology, Engineering or Design field.
