Successful first Open Education Stimulation Fund Symposium at TU Delft
On 5 March, the first-ever Open Education Stimulation Fund (OESF) Symposium took place at the TU Delft during the Open Education Week, marking the completion of the previous year’s OESF projects. The Symposium was a great opportunity for anyone interested in open education to learn more about the 11 awarded OESF projects completed in 2023, and for the project teams, it was a moment to showcase their results and to share their experiences of bringing their open education ideas to life. The event was a great opportunity to see how the open education community is growing at the TU Delft. About 80 people joined the workshops and panels. The event had attendees from every faculty, and the support services of the TU Delft present.
Teachers taking initiative in open education innovation
The OESF was established in 2022, to further encourage teachers’ initiative-taking in open education innovation and to increase the presence of open educational practices in the campus education of the TU Delft. Project Lead Marcell Várkonyi stated: “Looking back at the previous year, it has been a pleasure and honour to have worked with the fantastic project teams of the 11 projects that ran last year. New ideas have come to life, addressing a variety of areas and topics in education.”
The projects revolved around:
- developing new and innovative open educational resources (OER);
- supplementing already existing OER with interactive content;
- facilitating the (re)usability of already developed OER;
- the creation and implementation of open pedagogical practices that highlight the importance of equity, diversity and inclusion.

“If you missed the Symposium, fear not: Take a look at the compiled booklet detailing both the processes behind and the outcomes of each project. It is a good place to start if you would like to learn more about what open education can entail and what the projects looked like.
