The ID study association is excited to announce that Jordan Boyle has been chosen as the TU Delft | Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering’s Educator of the Year 2024. Jordan is an assistant professor within the Department of Sustainable Design Engineering (SDE). He coordinates and teaches courses in our Bachelor’s programme, as well as, the Master’s in Integrated Product Design (IPD) programme.
Jordan was selected as this year’s IDE Educator of the Year for his attitude and approach to teaching. He finds great fulfilment in it, believing it allows him to contribute to a meaningful future by instilling knowledge and inquisitiveness in the next generation. As a skilled public speaker, Jordan enhances his lectures with a touch of humour, making them both engaging and memorable.
While the field of design is inherently broad, requiring a vast array of knowledge without delving too deeply into any single area, he adeptly balances depth and breadth. This balance is particularly evident in his master’s course on Advanced Product Engineering, where he passionately equips students with a variety of advanced technical skills. His dedication to fostering both comprehensive understanding and specialised expertise is truly unique.
I’m delighted to be chosen as Educator of the Year for our Faculty, and I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who had a hand in it! I don’t need to win awards to enjoy my teaching here, but it certainly doesn’t hurt either! Seriously though, I think we have a lovely community at IDE with committed, supportive staff and engaged, curious students. That sense of community is something we should all value and do our best to preserve. I plan on being here, trying to deliver technical education that is engaging, effective and challenging, for many years to come!
