The board of Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS Institute) has appointed Zwanet van Lubek as General Director of the AMS Institute, effective May 1, 2024. She succeeds Kenneth Heijns, who has held this position since late 2017.

Zwanet van Lubek (1970) studied economics at the University of Groningen. After her studies, she worked as a marketing manager (Rabobank), management consultant (KPMG, S&T Group), and director of the MBA business school & Executive School (University of St.Gallen). Currently, Zwanet is Head of Corporate Innovation at the Innovation & Impact Centre of TU Delft. In this role, Zwanet has contributed with vision and leadership to the development of strategic and research-based partnerships for TU Delft and the growth of private-public collaborations. Within the I&IC, Zwanet has built a team of business developers and innovation managers, actively working on the development of a strong innovation ecosystem.

Zwanet has extensive experience in building teams and establishing innovation ecosystems. Combined with her vision and leadership, she is highly qualified to further develop our institute in the next phase of AMS Institute, alongside all researchers, teachers, and support staff of AMS Institute.

Zwanet van Lubek succeeds Kenneth Heijns. Kenneth has been heavily involved since the inception of the institute in 2013. He began in the writing team of the original proposal, then continued as the board secretary of the AMS Institute, and has energetically held the position of General Director since late 2017. Kenneth has made significant contributions to the successful growth of the institute during his time at AMS Institute. His dedication and strategic vision have had a lasting impact on both the institute and colleagues. Under Kenneth's leadership, the connection with other parties in the Amsterdam knowledge and innovation ecosystem has also been further developed. The board of the AMS Institute is therefore very grateful to Kenneth for his dedication and hard work over all these years.
