Korean Delegation: Strengthening Global Bonds in Science and Technology
In an exciting stride toward international collaboration, TU Delft was honoured to host the Minister of Science and ICT (MSIT) in Korea, Jong Ho Lee, and the President of the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), Byungjoo Min, at TU Delft, on 12 and 13 December 2023. Their visit, part of the South Korean President's delegation, aimed to foster ties and explore collaborative opportunities in Quantum, Biotechnology, Nuclear Physics and Nanotechnology research.
Engaging discussions unfolded at TU Delft, involving key researchers from various faculties, including the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Industrial Design Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, and QuTech, a collaboration of TU Delft and TNO. Together, they delved into face-to-face conversations, embarked on enlightening tours of QuTech and the TU Delft Reactor Institute (RID), and thoroughly explored potential avenues for future collaboration.
A defining moment during the visit was the delegation's exploration of QuTech, the House of Quantum, and RID. This unique experience granted the guests valuable insights into the current research landscape, with a specific focus on the cutting-edge realms of quantum computing and nuclear physics.
The visit was hosted by Chirlmin Joo, Paulien Herder, Ena Voûte, Jiwon Jung, Jeong-Joo Oh, Dong Hoon Shin, Yongsoo Kim, Martin Depken, Lieven Vandersypen, Kees Eijkel, Wim Koppers, Eui Young Kim, and Kofi Makinwa.
